Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary is located on Udaipur - Pali - Jodhpur road. It derives its name from an historic Kumbhalgarh Fort which is situated near it. It spreads over an area of 578 sq km. Its lush green vegetation makes it an ideal home for a wide variety of wildlife. Wolf, leopards, sloth bear, hyena, jackal, jungle cat, smabhar, nilgai, four horned antelope, chinkara and hare are some of the inhabitants here. Endangered species of wolf can also be spotted at water holes during summer. The avian species spotted here are grey jungle fowl, peacock, doves red spur owls, Parakeets, golden Oriole, grey Pigeons, Bulbul, and white breasted kingfisher. Horse and jeep safaris are available for exploring this wondrous wildlife sanctuary.
