Located in the heart of the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan, this beautiful small town is known for its splendid forts and havelis throughout the desert region. Built by the affluent businessmen of this place, the walls of these havelis were embellished with an exceptional collection of preserved paintings and antiques. The exquisitely sculptured Castle Mandawa, Chowkhadi Haveli, Gulab Rao Wadia Haveli, dot the rich artistic tradition of this place.

The arrival of the dominant merchant families in the 18th century marked the settling of the town. Their migration, in the later years, led to the obscurity of the old settlements. Yet, the attraction of these architectural extravaganzas did not fade over the years, making Mandawa a rich cultural and social hot spot.
