Jaswant Thada in Jodhpur is an evidence of the architectural brilliance in the country. This milky-white memorial is often called the Taj Mahal of Marwar. Maharaja Sardar Singh, the son of Maharaja Jaswant Singh, built the monument in the memory of memory of his father. The structure was built in the year 1899 out of intricately carved sheets of marble.
The sheets of marble are thinly sliced and polished. The surface of the fort emits a warm glow when sun rays strike the polished stone walls. You will be amazed to see the marble latticework done on the cenotaph which brings about the genius of the carver. The inner walls of the cenotaph displays exquisite portraits of the Maharajas of Jodhpur.
